As the college football season is drawing to a close, Alabama once again finds itself squarely in contention for both a spot in the SEC title game and the College Football Playoff with a matchup against No. 21 Arkansas.

BENDER: CFP committee could still admit Alabama with two losses

While this level of success is nothing new for the Crimson Tide, the Razorbacks are at a spot as a program they haven’t been in years. Arkansas gas been ranked in various polls throughout the course of the season so far, the first time that’s happened since 2016. At 7-3, Sam Pittman’s squad is slated to finish above .500, something Arkansas hasn’t done since 2016, either.

Perhaps most surprising about where Arkansas is as a program is the fact that last year, Pittman’s first in Fayetteville, the Razorbacks finished just 3-7. But thanks to the performance of dual-threat quarterback KJ Jefferson and his 17 touchdowns to just three interceptions, as well as others, Arkansas could finish with its highest win total in years.

Alabama’s been led by sophomore quarterback Bryce Young who ranks second nationally in completion percentage (71 percent) and third nationally in passing touchdowns (33), to go along with the Tide’s usual compliment of skill position players.

The Crimson Tide sit at 9-1 with regular season games against Arkansas and Auburn still on tap before a likely berth in the SEC title game and maybe the College Football Playoff.
